Thanks to You – We're Expanding Our Recycling Efforts Together

Ida Gorecka • August 27, 2024

We want to start by saying thank you to you and all our partners. Your continued support has been vital in helping us achieve our goal of recycling as much office furniture as possible, keeping countless chairs, desks, and other office furniture out of landfills. Thanks to your efforts and ours, we’ve increased our recycling output by 25% in 2023.

As we continue to expand our team and capabilities, we’re excited about the opportunities ahead to serve and support you even more effectively.

More Resources, More Availability

To meet the growing demand, we’ve made important investments in our facilities, enabling us to recycle and refurbish used office chairs and desks more efficiently. This means that more of the essentials you need will be readily available when you need them. Additionally, our expanded team will ensure quicker responses to your requests and more streamlined processing of the materials from your projects.

We are aiming to double our recycling capacity and return twice as much material to our partners, within the next year.

New Sites Are Being Planned – Following Your Requests

We've heard you loud and clear. For years, many of you have asked about the possibility of Coggin SOS opening sites in other parts of the country. We're excited to announce that we're taking action on this feedback. Our plan is to open three new Coggin SOS sites over the next three years. This expansion will make it easier for you to access our services, reduce transportation distances, and help mitigate the impact of rising fuel costs.

But we're not stopping there. We're also exploring the possibility of developing and operating office furniture recycling centers in collaboration with some of our partners. This approach could allow us to establish a network of facilities that serve multiple regions efficiently.

We're in the early stages of planning, and your input is valuable. If you have thoughts on where we should consider setting up, or if you're interested in discussing potential collaborations, we'd love to hear from you. We'll keep you updated as our plans progress. Our goal is to support you better, wherever you are in the country, and we're excited about the possibilities these new sites will bring.

Please do let us know if you want to collaborate.

Our Commitment to You: Meet Your Champions!

As we continue to deliver for more key partners across our industry and make even bigger positive environmental impacts, our team has continued to grow and evolve so we can be better placed to deliver on our promises to you.

Sam has been at the forefront of the recycling revolution and continues to lead Coggin SOS with dedication and passion. Sam and the Coggin family, for 3 generations, have been recycling used office furniture for some 50+ years. As we prepare to expand our services nationwide, we recognised the need to strengthen our leadership team.

Dan joins the team

With almost 20 years of experience helping small businesses to succeed, Dan Wood has joined us to support the team and help plan our expansion across the UK. So we can make an even bigger impact for our partners and ensure that Coggin SOS is the obvious choice, no matter where you are in the country.

Jess and Dawn changing roles

Many of you know Dawn and Jess, who have been working together in the office for a while. We are mentoring Jess to help support our partners day-to-day. Dawn will now be helping us lead our recycling team but will continue supporting our customers.

Ida and Will

Ida has joined us to help our team to help us do a much better job of keeping in contact. She will be helping us let you know what has been recycled or refurbished, enabling you to do far more with your customers. Will is going to be joining her later in the year, to help us lead our offices. You won't hear much from him, except if your account is overdue . . .

(Is anyone else seeing Daniel Craig here?)

Your Recycling Champions

Meet Gavin, Mac, Macaulay, Dan, John, and Kai. Your full-time recycling team, who are supported by a small group of additional staff on a semi-regular basis.

Mac has served the industry for over 12 years and will be supporting our team as it develops. Gavin, our new Recycling Manager, has spent many years on construction sites. Interested by the work we are doing and our family values, he decided he wanted to spend the rest of his career doing good in the world. He is joined by team leader Dan, who, following 9 years of service in the army, will ensure your repairs, orders, and collections are handled with clockwork precision. Kai and Macaulay, are learning the trade, supported by John, who is an experienced member of the team and family.

Sadly, we do have to say goodbye to our Patch. Who, following 10 years of service, felt it was the right time for a change. He goes with our best wishes, as he will now be a forester. Helping manage and conserve the amazing vistas available at the Lake District. Delivering vital work that will keep the Lake District looking picturesque for years to come.

The recycling team is expected to expand and grow as we handle far more for our partners. With hiring expected to happen regularly each quarter.

Looking Ahead: Building the Future Together

Your unwavering trust and loyalty have been the foundation of our success for many years, and we're deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue to grow alongside you. As we continue to expand and enhance our services, our commitment to you remains stronger than ever. We are not just looking to meet your expectations; we aim to exceed them, ensuring that every interaction with Coggin SOS leaves you confident that we are making a difference to both your business and the wider environment! If you ever feel we are falling short, please do let us know.

We're excited about what the future holds, from opening new sites to refining our plastic recycling processes and expanding our team. We can't wait to see what we'll achieve together in the years to come.

Our approach to furnishing workspaces is changing as part of a collective effort to reverse the projected 70% increase in global waste by 2050 . Design trends are constantly changing, and as companies race to keep up it can be challenging to keep up with the newest trends in office furniture. However, this constant cycle results in millions of office furniture pieces getting unnecessarily discarded every year when, with the right expertise, they could be repurposed, reused, or recycled. What can we do to reverse this trend? Facility Managers must help to embed circular economy thought processes into procurement and disposal strategies, across the entire supply chain. While recycling paper and reducing energy consumption are common strategies, one area that is often overlooked as a source of sustainable credentials is office furniture. By embracing furniture recycling and refurbishment , facility managers can make smarter , more sustainable choices that help reduce waste, cut costs, and ensure premium-quality office designs, often without the lengthy lead times that accompany new furniture purchases. If you haven’t considered refurbished furniture before, you are in the right place to discover why they should be your obvious choice for your next project. But even if you have considered it, keep reading for valuable insights into how refurbished furniture can improve sustainability initiatives, maximise cost savings, and support long-term business goals.
